15th Night Keeps Young People Connected — and Off the Streets

15th Night is a community organization focused on supporting young people who are unhoused or unstably housed. Rather than working alone, it coordinates a network of service providers across the community, connecting young folks to everything from shoes and clothes to job and college application assistance to mental health support.

From its earliest days, 15th Night has put youth voice at the forefront of its work. That commitment took shape through a Youth Action Council, a group made up of young people who have experienced homelessness themselves, alongside others who simply care deeply about the issue.

School, as the organization sees it, is often the last resource a young person stays connected to before ending up on a path to the streets. That belief drives 15th Night's partnerships with local schools and its biggest annual event, a back-to-school barbecue aimed at keeping young people tied to their communities.

Residents who want to help can sign up as Community Responders, volunteers who receive a text and email alert when a young person in the area has an unmet need, whether that is food, shoes, clothes, or school supplies. It is a small ask that reflects something the organization says it has never found in short supply here: people who want to help.
